The Rose Bud GownWhiteworks' newest design and the ultimate in Baby Finery.
(click on the picture for a larger picture of this gown without the slip) This gorgeous christening gown is 3 feet long and made of Shantung silk, a silk dupioni made in the Province of Shantung, China. A "Bertha Collar" is attached at the neckline. The silk ribbon roses on the collar are all hand made and attached by hand. They are white, cream, and several shades in between. The collar has machine-made rose lace on the bottom edge, hanging well below the waist. The silk square collar that covers the bodice is shown here with a gorgeous rose lace trim:
Sleeves are puffy, edged in two rows of white French lace and cinched with ribbons. This gown ties in back with ribbons to accommodate many babies through the years! The skirt:
The scalloped key-hole front skirt, edged with many, many hand-made silk ribbon roses, silk ribbon embroidery and bullion roses to match the collar, is open to show a slip that may be embroidered with Baby's name. You may choose to have pearl beads attached to the gown. This ensemble will include the personalized embroidered slip and matching bonnet!
Shown is the view of the back hem with roses above each scallop point. The slip beneath the gown can be embroidered in all white of course, or in pastels as shown below!
Come to think of it, your slip can be made from off-white, pink, or blue cotton batiste, not just white! No extra charge. The hat:
Made of the same fabric and roses, this hat has lace on the front framing Baby's face and machine-made lace appliqués on the sides, shown with pearl beads and sequins. A lovely rose is embroidered on the back, but no rose buds--for Baby's comfort. ALSO...a pair of matching booties/shoes is included. Made from the same silk dupioni fabric, covered in hand-made silk ribbon roses and lace. Skirt has French lace on the straight hem. Puffy sleeves draw together with ribbon ties.
